After 2.5 years of painful search for the old formulation bottle of YSL La nuit de l'Homme i finally found a full 100ml new bottle!! Couldnt be happier as this old formulation is one of the of my favorite scents ever!

2014 was a good year for La Nuit De L'homme, and somewhere between 2012-2014 it was reformulated for a second time (2011 the first). I can't speak for the 3rd reformulation (2015 & 2016) but I wouldn't want it watered down any more than how it was in '14, that would ruin the fragrance and from what I've seen that's what occurred on the 3rd reform.
RESULTS. There are clearly three different formulations, the first being the original one; after that, there was a subtle but clear reformulation in the samples marked "year 2014" and "year 2015" (both are identical), and finally another reformulation in the "year 2016" sample. This dense and refined version of the original La Nuit De L’Homme is perfect for date nights. It is sensual, attractive, and perfectly sophisticated making it a perfect option for a signature scent. - YSL L’Homme Libre – 2011. This energetic fragrance is very different than the others in this line. Its spiciness is much fresher making it .
Short answer from me, I've a small bottle of 2016 formulation and a larger bottle of one from early 2014. The earlier batch is sharper and lasts well (6 sprays = all day during work). The latter batch is far softer/more rounded and lasts marginally less. The 2013 is the first reformulation and is slightly spicer while the later batches are fresher. Here's the thing - while the first formulation will run you upwards of 0 for a bottle in some cases, the first reformulation is 95% of what the original is, at probably half the cost. If you LOVE this fragrance, then spend the extra and get a bottle of the 2011-2014 stuff.
