The store shipped it back to the "mothership" and they replaced it for me. That shouldn't be happening to hardware. For me, they said that there was a defect on the coating causing the metal to rust. You could try a polishing cloth for gold and silver hardware. YSL are pretty good if it's an issue NOT caused by you and its within warranty ( which it will be) So if it is tarnished, take it to your local YSL (dedicated) store with your receipt and ask them to send it for repairs.
