Somehow it just gives of the vibe of trying too .Yellow is tacky because it just screams “look at me”. Same with gemstones. White gold gives you the same heft as yellow gold on your wrist while looking closer to platinum.
If you see a younger person wearing gold and guess they couldn't possibly afford real gold, you will think the watch is fake and therefore tacky.
