La Nuit de l'Homme by Yves Saint Laurent is a sophisticated and alluring fragrance. It begins with a fresh and spicy blend of cardamom and bergamot. I'm a latecomer to this thread, but I wanted to say THANKS for the very thoughtful comparison between the old and new formulations of La Nuit de L'Homme. Very helpful information for a scentaholic like me. This dense and refined version of the original La Nuit De L’Homme is perfect for date nights. It is sensual, attractive, and perfectly sophisticated making it a perfect option for a signature scent. - YSL L’Homme Libre – 2011. This energetic fragrance is very different than the others in this line. Its spiciness is much fresher making it . I heard around the forum and the internet that the vintage version and original formulation (2009-2010) was the best version, and I was hoping to get my hands on it. Looking at eBay, the prices for a bottle range from 350-700 dollars, which seems quite excessive to me.
I think the first formulation is pretty magnificent, almost flawless in it’s composition, whereas I found the 2nd version grading and borderline unwearable. I’ve had multiple bottles of each and ended up selling the reformulation bottles every time after a handful of wears. The 2013 is the first reformulation and is slightly spicer while the later batches are fresher. It’s still the same fragrance though. The performance for a date night scent one on one is fine.
