Extensive testing has been performed to insure there are no functional or durability concerns with the use of MERCON® LV in the 5R110 automatic transmission. Vehicles affected are F-Series Super Duty trucks (including chassis cab, motorhome, LCF).
I would be careful using anything other than the Mercon LV fluid. With how finicky these transmissions are and the manual specifically stating Mercon LV fluid only I would try your best to get the Ford stuff Edit: Sorry just saw you said 6r80! Those are much less finicky and should be fine with similar fluid
